When using the Family and Self Projection Cards as part of a pre-forensic evaluation into sexual abuse the practitioner should precede with caution as there is no international literature available on these cards.
Family Projection cards are packed out so that the child can see all the cards. The child is then asked to choose the two cards that they like the most, followed by the two cards that they like the least.
With the use of both the Family and Self Projection Cards, the assessor should only ask the prescribed questions and should not explore the child answers at all.
If a child on Self Projection Card no 8 or 13 choose either the dog or the duck, it is an indication that the child is dissociating, and the assessor should explore their experiences as a dog / duck thoroughly.
The Self Projection Cards are completed in a chronological order and should be explored in the third person.
